“The Dragon’s Treasure”, an animated feature by Ashkan Rahgozar, made its way to the Mifa Pitches at The Annecy International Animation Film Festival.
Each year, the Mifa Pitches aim to showcase the best original animation film projects in development.
“The Dragon’s Treasure” along with seven other animated features from the United States, France, Germany, Denmark, Mexico, Indonesia and Latvia is going be present during the Mifa Pitches.
The pitches were selected from a total of 433 submissions from all over the world of which only eight works entered the Feature Films section.
The Mifa Pitches provide an opportunity for animation directors and producers to present their projects to professional audience. Various sponsored awards are presented to the winners including cash prizes, residences, development funding, and post-production services.
It is worth mentioning that Hoorakhsh Studios’ “The Last Fiction” animated feature, was previously accepted in Mifa Pitches in 2013. The presence of “The Last Fiction” in Mifa Pitches was the first appearance of an Iranian animated movie in Annecy Film Festival.
The 2D computer animated film, “The Dragon’s Treasure”, is being produced in Hoorakhsh Studios in cooperation with a Canadian company, Mystic House.
The animation tells the story of an 8-year-old girl named Sayeh who goes on an adventure in search of the dragon’s treasure to save her grandmother’s village from drought. But she doesn’t know that the real treasure is water and she must fill up all the aqueducts.
Pre-production of this animation has started in 2020 and will continue for another six months. “The Dragon’s Treasure” is expected to be ready for 2023.
The 60th Annecy International Animation Film Festival, will be held online from June 14 to 19, 2021.
